Roger Fon is an Assistant Professor of International Business at Newcastle Business School, Northumbria University. His academic journey includes a PhD in Management from the University of Kent (2018) and an MSc in International Business and Economic Development from the University of Reading (2012). Prior to Northumbria, he held roles at the University of Manchester and the London School of Economics, focusing on teaching and research in international business.
Roger’s research explores the internationalization strategies of emerging-market multinationals, particularly in Africa, with an emphasis on formal/informal institutions’ roles. His work has been published in journals like International Business Review and Thunderbird International Business Review, and he received the 2018 Danny Van Den Bulcke Best Paper Award. His studies often address African multinational enterprises’ location choices, Chinese foreign direct investment dynamics, and the interplay between governance, aid, and economic development.
