Roger Arntzen

Roger Arntzen is a Lecturer at the University of Oslo's Department of Musicology, specializing in jazz, pop, and rock performance pedagogy. He teaches double bass and electric bass performance across bachelor's and master's programs, focusing on ensemble dynamics and improvisation techniques.

Arntzen maintains an active career as a performing musician with over 30 album credits, including collaborations with Chrome Hill and Ballrogg. His academic approach integrates practical performance experience with pedagogical frameworks for music education.

He has been nominated twice for Norway's Spellemannprisen awards and received grants from the Norwegian Arts Council. Arntzen also contributes to music education initiatives as a board member of Improbasen, a children's jazz education organization.
