Fabian Bade

Fabian Bade serves as the Institute Coordinator for the Institute for Jazz|Rock|Pop at the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media since 2012, and Jazz|Rock|Pop Coordinator since 2014. He holds a research associate position within the university and teaches courses on popular music theory and history. His duties include leading the FüBA Pop Combo ensemble since 2015. Bade completed his electric bass training at the Lübeck University of Music (2009), pop studies at the Hamburg Music and Theatre University (2008), and was a scholarship recipient at McNally Smith College of Music (2007). He is currently pursuing a PhD at Rostock University, focusing on German popular music's reception in the U.S. since 1945.

His research emphasizes transdisciplinarity in popular music, rock music post-1960, and German-language pop's international influence. As a musician, Bade performs with bands like Paint and artists such as Mousse T., Grammy-nominated Mike Bogle, and the German Pops Orchestra. He also plays electric bass for Nick March and piano for Magnus Landsberg. Bade’s lectures include discussions on hit parades and transdisciplinary approaches in musicology. He is a member of the Society for German-American Studies (SGAS) and the Society for Popular Music Research (GfPM).
