Beate Roessler is a Professor of Philosophy and Chair of the Department of Philosophy at the University of Amsterdam's Faculty of Humanities. Her academic career spans institutions including Leiden University, the Free University Berlin, and the University of Bremen. She focuses on ethics, social and political philosophy, autonomy, and privacy.

She co-edits the European Journal of Philosophy and serves on multiple advisory boards.
