Prof. Beat Brogle is a Swiss artist and Professor of Moving Image at the University of the Arts Bremen since 2015, based in Berlin, Basel, and Bremen. He co-directs the Master's studio 9D within the School of Art and Design's Integrated Design program, with prior teaching positions at Weissensee Academy of Art (Berlin), Zurich University of the Arts, Konrad Wolf Film University Babelsberg, and Berlin University of the Arts.
His research investigates morphological processes at the edge of perception through time-based media, emphasizing creative dimensions of movement, sound, and montage. He critically examines how digital media alters relationships between images, text, and viewer interaction, spanning experimental film, video installations, interactive works, and web projects. His practice explores the hypnotic power of moving images while developing decision-making skills in new media technology through analog and digital hybrid methods.
Prof. Brogle mentors students in foundational film experiments and advanced independent projects across documentary, essay films, experimental formats, and video installations. As co-director of Master's studio 9D, he guides artistic development in time-based media with emphasis on conceptual creativity and technical collaboration.
His work features in international festivals and exhibitions, including recent events: "Screening Good Life" (June 2024) at City 46 Kommunalkino Bremen and "A flexible woman" (December 2023) at the University of the Arts Bremen Auditorium.
