Rodrigo Becerra

Rodrigo Becerra is an Associate Professor and Director of the Robin Winkler Clinic with the School of Psychological Science at The University of Western Australia. He is fully registered as a Psychologist, endorsed Clinical Psychologist, and endorsed clinical supervisor of higher degree clinical psychology trainees by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (PsyBA).

Professor Becerra's primary research interests focus on psychopathology, psychotherapy, alexithymia, emotion regulation, reactivity, beliefs, emotion coherence, assessment of emotions, and mindfulness. His work spans clinical psychology with strong applications in neuropsychology, particularly regarding brain injury rehabilitation, emotional processing, and psychological interventions.

His publication record demonstrates consistent research output with a focus on systematic reviews and meta-analyses examining emotion regulation, alexithymia, and their applications to clinical populations, particularly those with acquired brain injuries. His work shows strong interdisciplinary connections between clinical psychology, neuropsychology, and social cognition research.

Professor Becerra has successfully secured research funding for multiple projects including a randomized control trial comparing mindfulness and alpha-santalol products on stress correlates (2021-2024), a pilot study of group therapy for emotion dysregulation after brain injury (2021-2023), and a CBT group intervention for emotion regulation in children (2021).

As Clinic Director of the Robin Winkler Clinic and Unit Coordinator for Foundations in Clinical Psychology, Professor Becerra maintains strong clinical and educational commitments alongside his research.
