Rodolphe Durand is a Professor of Strategy and Business Policy at HEC Paris, holding the Joly Family Purposeful Leadership Chair. He founded and directs the Society and Organizations Institute (launched in 2009). He has held visiting roles at NYU, London Business School, Cambridge, and Harvard. His academic leadership includes chairing HEC's Strategy & Business Policy department (2009–2013) and directing the MSc in Strategic Management (2012–2015).
Education includes a Doctorat HEC (Ph.D.) from HEC Paris (1997), a Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches (2001), and a Doctor Honoris Causa from Catholic University of Louvain (2019).
Research focuses on organizational performance, societal challenges, and strategic adaptation. Key themes include corporate social responsibility, sustainability strategies, and institutional logics. He explores how firms navigate environmental and social norms, blending sociology, philosophy, and management perspectives.
