معرفی
Rod A. Wing is the Bud Antle Endowed Chair Professor at the University of Arizona's School of Plant Sciences, part of the College of Agriculture, Life & Environmental Sciences. He leads research in structural and evolutionary genomics of crop plants, focusing on rice (Oryza species), maize, and other plants. His work includes international genome sequencing projects and bioinformatics initiatives.
Education:
- B.A. Biochemistry, UC Berkeley (1980)
- Ph.D. Genetics, UC Davis (1987)
Research Interests: Wing's lab specializes in comparative genomics, genome sequencing technologies, and the application of genomic data to improve crop plants. Key projects include the Oryza Map Alignment Project and the International Rice Genome Sequencing Project.
Affiliations & Leadership: He holds primary faculty roles in Biodiversity & Evolutionary Biology, Genetics & Epigenetics, and Genomics, Bioinformatics, & Systems Biology. His lab collaborates globally to generate reference genomes for all 24 Oryza species.
Labs/Teams: Directs the Wing Lab, renowned for its contributions to crop genomics and bioinformatics resources, including BAC library construction and distribution.
