Rocky Ng

Rocky Ng serves as Adjunct Faculty at Skyline College, where he is Primary Instructor for the SEA-PHAGES program's BTEC 480 (Phage Discovery/Microbiology) and BTEC 484 (Phage Genomics/Bioinformatics) courses. He has taught these freshman-level courses since Fall 2023 with class sizes of 15-29 students, meeting 3 times weekly for 4.5-5.0 hours using bacterial hosts including Arthrobacter globiformis and Propionibacterium acnes.

His research centers on bacteriophage biology within undergraduate research frameworks, emphasizing hands-on microbiology and genomic analysis. Through the national Science Education Alliance-Phage Hunters Advancing Genomics and Evolutionary Science initiative, he integrates phage discovery with bioinformatics to advance evolutionary science education.

Dr. Ng actively participates in the SEA community through workshops like the 2025 Phage Genomics Workshop (December 2025) and the 2026 SEA Symposium, collaborating with instructors including Nick Kapp and Michael Anthony Diaz on curriculum development for phage genomics education.
