Roch Guérin

Roch Guérin is the Department Chair and Harold B. & Adelaide G. Welge Professor of Computer Science at Washington University in St. Louis, affiliated with the McKelvey School of Engineering. He holds a PhD from the California Institute of Technology (1986), an MS from Caltech (1984), and a BS from ENST Paris. His expertise spans computer networks, cloud computing, performance analysis, and network economics. He previously served as Alfred Fitler Moore Professor at the University of Pennsylvania (1998–2013) and spent 12 years at IBM’s T.J. Watson Research Center.

Research focuses on networked systems, cyberphysical systems, and real-time embedded systems. He is recognized for pioneering work in data network design, quality of service guarantees, and wireless/cellular networks. Key affiliations include the Division of Computational & Data Sciences, Imaging Science PhD Program, and Center for Trustworthy AI in CPS.

Honors include ACM and IEEE Fellowships. He has advised numerous international telecommunications companies and contributed to academic leadership roles.
