Robyn Warhol is a distinguished Professor of English at The Ohio State University's College of Arts and Sciences, where she has been since 2009 after 26 years at the University of Vermont. Her research bridges narrative theory, feminist studies, and Victorian literature, with a focus on serial forms, gendered performance, and cultural narratives. She holds a PhD from Stanford University (1982) and a BA from Pomona College (1977).
Warhol's work includes foundational texts like Feminisms: An Anthology of Literary Theory and Criticism (1991) and Having a Good Cry: Effeminate Feelings and Popular Forms (2003). Her current project, Reading Like a Victorian, explores synchronic reading of 19th-century serial novels. She has been honored with the 2022 Wayne C. Booth Lifetime Achievement Award and fellowships at institutions like the Freiburg Institute for Advanced Study.
Her research interests span narrative theory, feminist interventions in literature, and the intersection of media forms with gender. Collaborations with scholars like Helena Michie produced award-winning works such as Love Among the Archives (2015). Warhol’s interdisciplinary approach addresses how narrative structures shape cultural understanding of identity, gender, and history.
