Professor Robyn Munford is a faculty member at Massey University's School of Social Work in Aotearoa New Zealand. She co-leads two major national studies with Professor Jackie Sanders: Pathways to Resilience and Successful Youth Transitions, examining risk and resilience patterns among vulnerable young people.
Her research centers on social work interventions for vulnerable youth, with core interests in resilience frameworks, risk factor analysis, and youth transitions. She investigates how precarious circumstances impact development through lenses of shame, recognition, and opportunity, particularly focusing on indigenous and ethnic minority communities. Her work bridges public health, education policy, and criminology to develop evidence-based youth support systems.
Professor Munford's publication trends reveal consistent focus on resilience measurement (including CYRM-28 validation), educational pathways, and justice system interactions. Her research demonstrates strong interdisciplinary connections between social work practice, youth development theory, and policy implementation for high-risk populations.
She co-leads two large-scale national studies funded through New Zealand's research infrastructure, indicating significant grant acquisition. Her editorial role as Guest Associate Editor for Frontiers in Public Health demonstrates scholarly leadership. Current work continues to explore resilience as a mediator between proximal resources and youth outcomes.
Her research operates through collaborative national studies examining youth transitions, with emphasis on indigenous community engagement and cross-sector program delivery for vulnerable populations.
