Robyn Dowling is a Professor of Urbanism at the University of Sydney, School of Architecture, Design and Planning. She holds a BEc(Hons) from the University of Sydney and a MA and PhD from the University of British Columbia. Her research focuses on social and cultural geographies of cities, urban governance, climate change adaptation, and smart cities. Professor Dowling has been a key figure in studying suburban homes, autonomous mobility, and the impacts of technological disruptions on urban life. She has led multiple ARC-funded projects, including investigations into smart city initiatives and energy transitions. Notable awards include election as a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Social Sciences (2018) and recognition as a leading researcher in geography (2021).
Research Interests: Urban governance, smart cities, climate change, transport innovation, and sociocultural dimensions of urban spaces. Her work bridges theory and practice, collaborating with local governments and international scholars to address urban challenges.
