Robyn Bartel is a Professor in the Department of Human Geography, Anthropology and Development Studies at Monash University, where she currently serves as Deputy Dean (Education) in the Faculty of Arts. She also holds an Adjunct Professor position at the University of New England (Australia) from May 2023 onwards. Her work bridges legal systems, geographical contexts, and natural resource management, emphasizing sustainable agricultural arrangements and place-based education initiatives. Robyn actively contributes to university governance, having previously chaired Academic Board and completed governance certifications through GIA and AICD.

- BSc(H1)/LLB from Australian National University (ANU)
- Masters in Higher Education from ANU
- PhD in Geomatics from University of Melbourne
- Research Focus: Legal diversity, environmental policy, planning law, governance structures, and sustainability. She co-leads an ARC Discovery Project (DP210101483) with Professor Nicole Graham to explore sustainable agricultural institutions.
- Awards: Finalist in the Monash Education Academy The Pitch (2024).
- Grants/Projects: Co-PI for the ARC-funded project 'Tenants of the soil: adapting agricultural land ownership in Australia' (2022–2025).
- Collaborations: Editorial Board member of Geographical Research (2014–present), member of the Planning Institute of Australia, and former President of the Institute of Australian Geographers.
Her scholarship prioritizes public good objectives aligned with UN SDGs, particularly addressing climate change and promoting equitable resource governance. She advocates for reconnecting students with their environments through place-based education to enhance societal and ecological resilience.
