Robin Runia is a Full Professor in the Department of English at Xavier University of Louisiana. Her research focuses on British literature from 1660-1830, with particular emphasis on women's writing, the novel, satire, and interdisciplinary approaches to literature. She maintains office hours during fall semesters and has published extensively on gender and race in eighteenth-century literature.
Her research explores intersections between gender, race, and literary form in the long eighteenth century. She specializes in analyzing how female authors engaged with contemporary social issues through fiction and has produced critical editions of works by Maria Edgeworth and Hannah More. Her work frequently examines representations of slavery and abolition in literary texts.
Professor Runia's publications demonstrate a consistent focus on feminist recovery of eighteenth-century women writers and critical analysis of abolitionist literature. Her editorial work includes the Maria Edgeworth Letters Project and the Early Modern Feminisms series, reflecting her commitment to reconstructing historical literary networks.
