Dr. Robin Banks is a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the University of Tasmania’s Faculty of Law, specializing in human rights law, discrimination, disability advocacy, and genomics. With a PhD in Law from the University of Tasmania (2023) and a Bachelor of Laws from UNSW (1999), she has held senior roles including Tasmania’s Anti-Discrimination Commissioner (2010-2017). Her work bridges legal practice and academia, focusing on marginalized communities and systemic inequality.

Research interests include international and domestic human rights law, disability rights, climate action policy, and the intersection of law with genomics. She co-designed tools to improve accessibility in education and leads projects on rights expansion dynamics. Active in multiple advisory roles, she chairs the Melbourne Social Equity Institute’s board and collaborates with global human rights organizations.
Recent publications analyze rights co-optation, climate protest criminalization, and disability-inclusive education. Her advocacy training programs, such as ‘Speaking Up, Speaking Out,’ empower marginalized groups in Tasmania. Grants and collaborations focus on equitable legal frameworks and sustainable advocacy models.
