Roberto Flores is an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science at Christopher Newport University (CNU), within the School of Engineering and Computing. He holds a B.Sc./ISC from ITESM (Mexico, 1990), M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Calgary (Canada, 2002), and postdoctoral research at CNR (Italy, 2003) and Laval University (Canada, 2004).
His research focuses on software engineering and multiagent systems, with notable contributions to agent communication protocols, collaborative systems, and distributed software development. Flores has received National Science Foundation (NSF) grants for initiatives like EPIIC (Emerging Technology Ecosystem Partnerships) and GK-12 Fellows (Chesapeake Watershed Education).
His teaching emphasizes programming languages and software engineering curricula. Key publications span software engineering education, agent conversation modeling, and multiagent system standardization. His work bridges theoretical foundations (e.g., commitment-based systems) with applied frameworks (e.g., distributed collaboration tools).
