Roberto De Renzi is a Full Professor of Physics at the University of Parma, affiliated with the Department of Mathematical, Physical and Computer Sciences. He has held leadership roles, including Head of Department from 2012-2019 and service roles in academic governance and international scientific boards.
His research focuses on superconductivity, magnetism, and quantum technologies using muon spin spectroscopy and NMR. He develops instrumentation and computational tools, such as the mujpy Python package for muon data analysis. Key contributions include studies on magnetic topological insulators, correlated electron systems, and high-temperature superconductors.
De Renzi has supervised 13 PhD students and examined 14 others internationally. Awards include the 2014 Yamazaki Prize for MuSR Spectroscopy and the 2013 APS Outstanding Referee designation. He has led numerous competitive projects, including PNRR initiatives on quantum science and HPC infrastructure.
Teaching spans physics courses for engineering and physics students, including condensed matter physics and electromagnetism. His work bridges experimental and computational approaches to materials science, with publications in over 200 international journals and co-authored textbooks.
