Roberto Catanzaro is an Associate Professor of Gastroenterology at the University of Catania's School of Medicine. He has been a confirmed faculty member since 2002, affiliated with the Internal Medicine Operating Unit at Policlinico-Vittorio Emanuele University Hospital. His educational background includes a Medicine and Surgery degree (1984), specialization in Gastroenterology and Digestive Endoscopy (1988), and specialization in Internal Medicine (1993), all earned with honors from the University of Catania.
His research focuses on gastroenterological disorders including Helicobacter pylori infections, pancreatic and hepatic steatosis, irritable bowel syndrome, and the therapeutic applications of probiotics and nutraceuticals. He maintains active collaborations with medical societies and serves as a consultant for gastrointestinal health initiatives.
Professor Catanzaro has extensive teaching experience across multiple programs including the Medicine and Surgery degree course, specialization schools (Gastroenterology, Internal Medicine, Radiodiagnostics), and professional training programs since 1986. He participates regularly in national/international conferences and has co-authored over 100 scientific publications.
