Roberta Zalkind serves as Viola Professor at the University of Utah since 1988 and Associate Principal Violist of the Utah Symphony, with longstanding membership in the Grand Teton Music Festival viola section. She recently expanded her teaching role by joining the viola faculty at the Eastman Community Music School.
Her pedagogical approach integrates traditional technique building methods to nurture students' musical development, specializing in orchestral and college audition preparation for ages 8+. Research interests span Violin and Viola Performance, Chamber Music, Orchestral Performance, Music Pedagogy, Audition Preparation, and String Instrument Technique.
Ms. Zalkind's mentorship has produced students who secured positions in prestigious orchestras and pursued diverse careers as music educators, recording artists, and performers. Many have participated in prominent national music festivals, reflecting her impactful guidance in student career advancement.
