Roberta Sassatelli is a Full Professor in Sociology at the Department of History and Cultures, University of Bologna. She previously held positions at the University of Milan and the University of East Anglia. Her research spans consumer culture, cultural theory, gender studies, sociology of the body, food studies, and visual studies. She has contributed to major journals and book series, including co-editing Consumption and Public Life at Palgrave-MacMillan.
Her academic career includes founding the journal Studi Culturali and serving on editorial boards of journals like European Journal of Sociology and Rassegna Italiana di Sociologia. She has led research projects on consumption, trust in food systems, and post-democracy, and is affiliated with interdisciplinary centers such as Dis-4Change (climate discourse) and CeSCA (food history and culture).
