Roberta Pierfederici

Roberta Pierfederici is a Policy Fellow and Research Adviser to Professor Nicholas Stern at the Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment at the London School of Economics. Prior to joining in 2020, she held roles including Senior Research Fellow at IDDRI/Sciences Po (Paris), Research Fellow at Imperial College London, and Economist/Research Fellow at Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei (FEEM). She holds MSc and BSc degrees in Economic Modeling, Statistics, and Environmental Economics.

Her research focuses on decarbonisation pathways, sustainable development, and aligning short-term climate commitments with long-term goals. She has contributed to evaluating the Paris Agreement, low-carbon technologies in emerging economies, and climate policy frameworks. Her work also explores new indicators to assess countries’ progress toward climate and sustainable development targets.

Her publications span climate policy design, AI’s role in climate action, China’s energy transition, and EU climate objectives. Notable works include analyses on carbon markets, green supply chains, and the G7 Climate Club concept.

She actively advises on climate finance, international cooperation, and post-pandemic recovery strategies. She is part of the Grantham Research Institute team, contributing to policy briefs and academic research addressing global climate challenges.
