Roberta Diaz Brinton, Ph.D. is a distinguished Professor in the Department of Pharmacology and Neurology at the University of Arizona College of Medicine and serves as the inaugural Director of the Center for Innovation in Brain Science (CIBS). Her work bridges molecular pharmacology, neurology, and translational research to address age-associated neurodegenerative diseases.
Dr. Brinton’s research focuses on bioenergetic mechanisms in late-onset Alzheimer’s, emphasizing sex differences, mitochondrial dynamics, and regenerative therapies. She has pioneered the development of allopregnanolone and phytoSERMs into clinical trials for neurodegenerative disorders.
- 200+ peer-reviewed publications
- 100+ media appearances, including national/international broadcasts
- 22 graduate students, 10 postdocs, and 56 STAR students mentored
Her accolades include the Presidential Citizens Medal, National Academy of Inventors, and the Melvin Goodes Prize. CIBS, under her leadership, integrates computational biology, drug development, and clinical operations to combat neurodegeneration.
