Robert York

Robert York is a Distinguished Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and the Technology Management Program at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB). He holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University (1991), with research focused on high-speed and wireless electronic devices, antennas, and high-frequency electronics. His work aims to advance materials, device technologies, and circuit architectures for enhanced performance in high-frequency systems.

York has over 240 technical publications and 17 U.S. patents. His honors include Young Investigator Awards from the Army Research Office and Office of Naval Research, the IEEE Outstanding Young Engineer Award, and election as an IEEE Fellow. He has been repeatedly recognized as an Outstanding Faculty Member by UCSB students.

In industry, York co-founded AgileRF Inc. (1999–2010) as CTO and contributed to Wavestream Inc., whose UC-invented technology ranked among the Top-25 UC inventions in 2012. His research emphasizes commercialization and technology transfer, bridging academic innovation with practical applications.
