Robert Wood is a Professor in the Department of Biology at Saint Louis University, within the College of Arts and Sciences. His research focuses on reconstructing phylogenetic relationships among North American freshwater fishes, utilizing molecular, morphological, and allozyme data. He has expertise in darters and minnows, contributing to evolutionary biology and conservation genetics.
Wood earned his Ph.D. from the University of Alabama. His courses include Evolution, Honors Evolution, Principles of Phylogenetic Systematics, and Aquatic Ecology.
His publications span molecular systematics of sturgeons, darters, minnows, and other freshwater fishes, emphasizing genetic analysis and phylogeography. His work often addresses conservation implications for endangered species like river sturgeons.
