Dr. Robert W. Galler is a Professor of U.S. and American Indian History at St. Cloud State University’s College of Liberal Arts. His research focuses on intercultural dynamics between Hunkpati (Dakota) communities and Catholic institutions on the northern plains during the 19th and 20th centuries. He teaches courses such as American Indian History (HIST 352), Concepts and Methods for Teaching History (HIST 385), and U.S. Since 1865 (HIST 141).

- M.A. in History, University of South Dakota (1994)
- Ph.D. in U.S. History/American Indian History, Western Michigan University (2000)
Dr. Galler’s research explores historical agency, cultural preservation, and the legacy of Catholic boarding schools. His recent work includes a manuscript on the Crow Creek Reservation’s Catholic boarding school and activism during the Progressive Era. He has received multiple Faculty Research Grants from St. Cloud State University and external funding for public history initiatives.
