Nathan Tye

Nathan Tye is an Assistant Professor in the Department of History at the University of Nebraska at Kearney.

Education:

• BA from Creighton University
• PhD from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign

Dr. Tye specializes in Nebraska History, the history of the American West and Midwest, Labor History, Gender and Sexuality History, and Digital Public History. His research focuses on the lives of transient workers like hobos and tramps who traveled across the West and Midwest during the 1870s–1930s, blending labor history, gender studies, and public history methodologies.

He teaches courses including HIST 251: United States History since 1865, HIST 466: Museums and Archives, HIST 479/879P: Nebraska and Great Plains History, and HIST 801: American Interpreted, emphasizing experiential learning and community engagement.
