Robert Thomas

Robert Thomas is Professor of the Practice and Director of Leadership Education at the Scheller College of Business, Georgia Institute of Technology. He has been at Georgia Tech since 2006, where he develops curriculum and programming for the Institute for Leadership and Entrepreneurship, teaching courses in servant leadership, social entrepreneurship, and entrepreneurial finance.

Dr. Thomas's research and teaching focus on organizational behavior, corporate leadership, ethics, and servant leadership. He is a recognized figure in the servant leadership community and contributes significantly to leadership education through curriculum innovation and nonprofit engagement.

His recent recognition includes the 2024 Fulbright Specialist Award, highlighting his international impact in leadership education. He also serves on multiple nonprofit boards and was formerly engaged in leadership development at institutions including LaGrange College, the University of Georgia, and the University of North Georgia.

Dr. Thomas has advised leadership programs and led educational initiatives, particularly through the Institute for Leadership and Entrepreneurship. His work bridges academic theory with practical application in business and nonprofit sectors. He has extensive experience in both academia and the financial sector, having held senior positions in banking and investment banking prior to his academic career.

He is actively involved with the Greenleaf Center for Servant Leadership, currently serving as Chair of the Board of Trustees, and has worked with foundations and NGOs in Eastern and Central Europe from 1990 to 2002.
