Thomas Bryer is a Pegasus Professor (UCF's highest honor) in the School of Public Administration, University of Central Florida, since 2007. He has led multiple initiatives including directing the Center for Public and Nonprofit Management, UCF Downtown's Community-Engaged Scholarship program, and the Master of Nonprofit Management program. Currently co-chairs the Center for Social and Civic Prosperity. His expertise spans public administration theory, civic engagement, and international governance.
- Education: PhD from University of Southern California, MPA from George Washington University, BA from American University
Research focuses on democratic practices in education, citizen participation strategies, and the role of universities in fostering civic health. Notable work includes frameworks for government-social entrepreneurship collaboration, analysis of emigration factors in post-Soviet states, and social media's impact on governance. Has authored/edited 10 books and secured over $4M in grants.
Awards include Fulbright Scholar (Lithuania, 2015-2017) and Fulbright Specialist (Russia, 2018). His teaching emphasizes bridging theory/practice through service-learning and community partnerships. Recent projects explore civic engagement in divisive environments and pandemic-era labor policy.
