Robert Tanner, DMA, serves as Associate Professor of Music in the Humanities, Social Sciences, Media, and Arts Division at Morehouse College, where he has taught composition, theory, and music history since 1999.

His creative research centers on contemporary composition and percussion performance, with significant contributions to choral music. The widely performed work "Lazarus" appears on the Morehouse College Glee Club's album "Behold! Brethren in Unity" and is published by G.I.A. Publications. As an active percussionist, he performs regularly at Ebenezer Baptist Church and appears on the internationally recognized CD "Use Me, Lord" by the Ebenezer Church Choir.
Professional affiliations include ASCAP, Society of Composers, American Composers Forum, Percussive Arts Society, and Associated Colleges of the South Composers Forum. No specific scientific awards are documented in available sources.
