Robert Stephan is an Associate Professor of Practice in the Department of Religious Studies and Classics at the University of Arizona, where he has taught since 2016. He holds a BA from the University of Michigan (2005) in Classical Archaeology, Biological Anthropology, and Near Eastern Studies, and a PhD in Classics from Stanford University (2014). His research explores how material remains inform ancient economic systems and the intersection of technology with teaching, including uses of video games and virtual reality in education.
Notable projects include the Bays of East Attica Regional Survey (BEARS), investigating archaeological data in Greece, and leading study abroad programs in Italy, Greece, and the Holy Land. He has also supervised undergraduate research in multiple archaeological locations worldwide.
