Melanie Godsey is an Assistant Professor of Classical Studies at Trinity University, specializing in Mediterranean archaeology with a focus on material approaches to social and economic histories. Her research explores interactions among culturally diverse communities in the ancient Mediterranean, particularly through the lens of ancient ceramics and archaeological ethics.

Her work intersects with ancient economies, landscape archaeology, and multicultural dynamics in coastal garrisons and harbors. She co-directs the Pyla-Koutsopetria excavations in Cyprus and participates in the Bays of East Attica Regional Survey (BEARS) and Western Argolid Regional Project (WARP), with prior involvement in projects across Egypt, Greece, and Italy.
Melanie’s publications highlight trends in Mediterranean ceramics, household activities in Ptolemaic Egypt, and scholarly networks in Eastern Mediterranean archaeology. She teaches courses on Classical archaeology, gender and identity in antiquity, and daily life in ancient Greece.
Her fieldwork spans Egypt, Greece, and Italy, with affiliations to projects like BEARS, WARP, and the Pyla-Koutsopetria excavations, reflecting her commitment to interdisciplinary and collaborative research.
