Robert Salomon

Robert Salomon is Professor and NEC Faculty Fellow of International Management at the Leonard N. Stern School of Business, New York University (NYU). Since 2023, he has served as the inaugural Dean of Stern at NYUAD, a joint business school initiative between NYU Stern and NYU Abu Dhabi. He joined NYU Stern in 2005 after previously teaching at the Marshall School of Business, University of Southern California. His academic work spans international business, global strategy, and the economics of globalization.

Robert Salomon’s research focuses on the strategic and economic dimensions of globalization, including foreign market entry, institutional distance, cross-border knowledge transfer, and the impact of international expansion on firm performance. His work integrates institutional theory, strategic management, and international business to understand how firms navigate complex global environments. He has also explored the relationship between corporate social responsibility and financial performance, as well as innovation dynamics in global industries.

His recent publications reveal a strong emphasis on institutional and cultural factors in global business decisions, with recurring themes such as liability of foreignness, isomorphism, agglomeration, and knowledge spillovers. These works appear in top-tier journals like Strategic Management Journal, Journal of International Business Studies, and Management Science, reflecting both theoretical depth and empirical rigor.

He is the author of the influential book Global Vision: How Companies Can Overcome the Pitfalls of Globalization, which provides practical frameworks for managing risks in international expansion and has been widely recognized in the business community.
