Kermit Schoenholtz is a Clinical Professor Emeritus in the Department of Economics at New York University’s Leonard N. Stern School of Business. He has held roles as Citigroup’s Global Chief Economist (1997–2005) and previously at Salomon Brothers. His research focuses on monetary policy, financial regulation, and macroeconomics. Schoenholtz directs the Stern Center for Global Economy and Business, promoting global economic research and outreach. Educated at Yale University (M.Phil., 1982) and Brown University (A.B., 1977), he also served as a visiting scholar at the Bank of Japan’s Institute for Monetary and Economic Studies (1983–1985). He received the NYU Stern Faculty Leadership Award (2017) and has been a member of the Council on Foreign Relations since 2016. His work includes co-authoring the textbook Money, Banking, and Financial Markets and maintaining a blog on related topics.
