Robert Rosales, PhD, LCSW, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Behavioral and Social Sciences at Brown University’s School of Public Health. He holds a PhD and MSW from Boston College and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Brown’s Center for Alcohol and Addiction Studies. His research focuses on minority stress, sociocultural protective factors, and health disparities affecting Latinx and sexual minority populations, particularly regarding alcohol use and healthcare access. He is the Principal Investigator of an NIH-funded K08 award examining alcohol use disparities among sexual minority youth. Rosales is affiliated with the Center for Alcohol and Addiction Studies and collaborates with colleagues like Robert Miranda and David Zelaya. His work has been recognized through NIH Loan Repayment Program Awards and the Enhanced Interdisciplinary Research Training Institute fellowship.
Key research interests include the intersection of acculturation stress, racial/ethnic identity, and mental health outcomes. He has published extensively on Latinx substance use, healthcare policy, and the impact of discrimination. Rosales also serves as an Adjunct Professor at Boston College and previously held visiting roles at Northeastern University.
