Robert Perkins is an Assistant Professor of Chemistry at Saint Louis University's School of Science and Engineering. He holds a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry (2016) and a dual A.B. in Physics and Chemistry (2011), both from Washington University in St. Louis. Prior to joining SLU, he was a Postdoctoral Fellow at Pfizer Chemical Research and Development (2016-2018).
His research focuses on developing sustainable organic synthetic methods using electrochemistry to generate reactive intermediates. Key goals include minimizing reagent waste and creating tools for pharmaceutical core scaffold synthesis. Educational priorities emphasize undergraduate training in synthetic techniques and electrochemical methodologies.
Teaching responsibilities include CHEM 2410/2420 (Organic Chemistry I/II) and CHEM 4505 (Inorganic Chemistry Lab). His lab is located at Shannon Hall, 3501 Laclede Ave., St. Louis, MO 63103.
