Robert McCabe is an Assistant Professor and Director of the MA Maritime Security Programme at Coventry University's Research Centre for Peace and Security. He holds a PhD in History (International Security) from Maynooth University and an MA in Military History and Strategic Studies. His research focuses on maritime security, capacity building, ocean governance, and sustainable development, with emphasis on critical infrastructure protection, small navies' roles, and the environment-development-security nexus. He leads projects like 'Securing UK Subsea Infrastructure' and 'CYBERCABLE,' addressing subsea infrastructure protection and cybersecurity. His work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to peace, justice, and responsible consumption.
Recent publications include analyses of Brexit's maritime implications, Ireland's subsea infrastructure security, and environmental drivers of insecurity in the Indian Ocean. He frequently engages in policy advocacy through parliamentary submissions and media commentary on critical maritime issues.
