Robert Marks is a Lecturer in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Santa Clara University (SCU) since 2011. He received his bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees in Materials Science from UC Berkeley between 1992 and 2003.
His academic focus includes teaching materials science courses at both graduate and undergraduate levels, alongside specialized classes in Mathematical Methods for Engineers (MECH 102) and Engineering Thermodynamics (MECH 121). His research investigates the kinetic and thermodynamic behavior of multi-phase materials systems, particularly their morphological evolution.
Prior to SCU, Marks worked as a process engineer at Applied Materials’ Chemical Mechanical Planarization Division and held postdoctoral positions at UC Berkeley and the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA. He has authored 13 scholarly publications in his field.
