Mohamad Zbib is an Associate Professor at Santa Clara University's School of Engineering, where he has been a faculty member in General Engineering and Mechanical Engineering since September 2021. Previously, he served as founding coordinator of the Mechanical Engineering department at Phoenicia University in Lebanon.
- Education: Ph.D. in Materials Engineering from Purdue University (West Lafayette, IN) and B.S. in Materials Science & Engineering from Washington State University (Pullman, WA).
His research focuses on materials processing, characterization, and structure-property relationships, particularly for metal-coated carbon nanotubes, granular silicon, and brittle microspheres. Research work spans renewable energy materials, composite foams, and semiconductor characterization.
Recent publications highlight synthesis techniques like spray pyrolysis, mechanical behavior of nanostructures, and hydrogen effects on silicon toughness. Awards include the DeVlieg Foundation Research Grant, Structural Materials Division Scholarship (TMS), and multiple WSU honors.
- Scientific Awards:
- DeVlieg Foundation Research Grant
- Structural Materials Division Scholarship (TMS)
- President’s Award (WSU)
- International Merit Award (WSU)
He teaches courses including Introduction to Engineering at SCU and has previously taught material characterization, thermodynamics, and final year projects. Contact: mzbib@scu.edu
