Soumendra Basu is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering and Associate Division Head of Materials Science & Engineering at Boston University's College of Engineering, with affiliations to the Photonics Center and Institute for Sustainable Energy. He holds a PhD in Materials Science from MIT (1989). His research focuses on high-temperature materials for energy systems, including solid oxide fuel cells, environmental barrier coatings, and photonic materials. He has authored over 100 publications and received awards like the Dean’s Catalyst Award (2025) and TECO Silver Medal (2014).
