Robert M. Kellerman is a Professor of English and Director of the UMA Honors Program at the University of Maine at Augusta. He holds a B.A. from the University of Michigan-Flint and M.A./Ph.D. from Michigan State University, specializing in medieval/Renaissance English literature. His career spans academic and non-academic roles, including editor, public relations director, and musician with early music ensembles since the 1980s.
Dr. Kellerman’s research bridges medieval/renaissance studies (focusing on drama, devotional texts, and Shakespeare) with contemporary LGBTQ+ literature and graphic narratives. He emphasizes connecting historical texts to modern themes. He teaches courses ranging from composition to advanced topics like medieval literature and LGBT studies.
His recent publications analyze queer theory in modern novels, Shakespearean agency, and medieval pedagogy, reflecting his dual focus on classical and contemporary themes. He received a 2017 Fulbright Fellowship to teach in Latvia. His teaching spans foundational and specialized courses, including the History of the English Language and Senior Seminar.
