Robert Lemon is a Lecturer in the Department of Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning at the University of California, Berkeley. His work bridges urban geography, environmental design, and city planning to examine social and cultural transformations in North American cities, with a focus on Latino immigration, cultural landscapes, and food practices. He holds a PhD in Urban Geography from the University of Texas at Austin (2015), an MLA from UC Berkeley (2009), and dual master’s degrees in City & Regional Planning and a BA in History/Geography, both from the University of Texas at Austin.
His research emphasizes the intersection of food practices and urban design, notably explored in his 2019 book *The Taco Truck: How Mexican Street Food Is Transforming the American City*. He teaches courses on sustainable design and the role of film in shaping perceptions of landscapes.
He received the prestigious John Brinckerhoff Jackson Prize from the American Association of Geographers in 2020, recognizing his innovative interdisciplinary approach to urban studies.
