Robert Larmer is a Professor and Chair of the Department of Philosophy at the University of New Brunswick (UNB). He holds a PhD from the University of Ottawa (1985) and has been at UNB since 1986. His teaching spans business ethics, healthcare ethics, environmental ethics, ancient/modern philosophy, and philosophy of religion (his specialization). He currently serves as President of the Canadian Society of Christian Philosophers and has held roles in the Canadian Philosophical Association and Evangelical Philosophical Society.
Research interests focus on the concept of miracles, models of divine agency, intelligent design, and philosophy of mind. Notable works include the book Dialogues on Miracle (2015) and articles like “Special Divine Acts: Three Pseudo-Problems and One Red Herring” (2015). He has won a prestigious course award from Oxford University and the Templeton Foundation, and his article on ethical investing received the Anbar Citation of Excellence.
His scholarly output explores debates on Hume’s critique of miracles, divine intervention in natural laws, and tensions between science and theism. He has also contributed to discussions on methodological naturalism and theistic evolution.
