Robert L. Greene is an Associate Professor in the Department of Art and Art History at Eastern Connecticut State University, where he teaches courses in Wood and Metal Sculpture and Site-specific Art. His artistic practice focuses on sculpture, particularly abstract and figurative works that explore the human condition through controlled chaos, often using wood as a primary medium.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree from Eastern Connecticut State University (2006)
- MFA in Sculpture from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth (2013)
Greene's research and artistic work centers on Sculpture, Figurative Sculpture, Abstract Sculpture, Wood Sculpture, Metal Sculpture, Site-specific Installation, and Outdoor Installation. He is particularly interested in the intersection of art and community, as well as creating works that address the human condition and the activity of the mind and nervous system. His notable projects include outdoor installations and community-engaged art.
Greene has exhibited his work widely, including solo exhibitions at the Cotuit Center for the Arts (2017) and the Mystic Arts Center (2015). His piece "Frenetic Composure" was selected for the Kips Bay Show House in New York City (2015), and his work has been featured in The New York Times, Huffington Post, Boston Globe, and Architectural Digest.
As an educator, Greene is dedicated to nurturing the creative potential of his students, believing that "everybody has the creative potential; there is nothing more rewarding than seeing a students' excitement when they discover exactly what they can make with their own hands."
