Ellie Krakow serves as Associate Professor of Art and Director of the Mazmanian Gallery within the Art, Design & Art History Department at Framingham State University. Her artistic practice critically engages with the human body and medical experiences through sculptural and installation works.
Her research spans contemporary art, sculpture, and installation art, with a distinct focus on the intersection of art and medicine. Key projects include 'Comfort Corners', 'Body Frames', 'The Body is Severed but the Human Remains', and 'Colonoscopy Figure', which utilize industrial and organic materials like aquaresin, wood, foam, and silicone tubes to explore bodily autonomy, medical procedures, and abstract forms. Her recent exhibition 'Wheeled and Tethered' (2025) at Underdonk, NYC, exemplifies her investigation into institutional and corporeal structures.
