Julia Betts is an Adjunct Professor of Art at the School of Art, Carnegie Mellon University. Her work explores sculpture, performance, and installation, emphasizing unpredictability, unstable materials, and precarious bodily/space interactions. She holds a BA in Studio Arts from the University of Pittsburgh (2014) and an MFA in Sculpture from the Rhode Island School of Design (2017).
Her research interests include material experimentation, conceptual art, and the interplay between physical disorder and emotional vulnerability. Notable works like "The Dams are Broken" (2024) exemplify her focus on pushing materials to their limits while creating metaphorically charged environments.
