Dr. Robert L. Elliott serves as Department Head of the Music Department within the College of Liberal Arts, where he teaches Music Theory and String Bass performance.

- Bachelor of Arts in Instrumental Music Education from the University of New Orleans
- Master of Music Education from Loyola University-New Orleans
- Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Memphis
Dr. Elliott's professional focus spans Music Theory, Music Education, String Bass Performance, and Music Appreciation. He has significantly contributed to the field through his nationally adopted textbook Our World, Our Music and development of standardized instructional materials. His active performance career as both upright and electric bassist informs his pedagogical approach, creating a bridge between academic theory and practical musicianship.
With prior teaching experience in New Orleans public schools and faculty positions at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff and University of Memphis, Dr. Elliott brings diverse educational perspective to his current leadership role.
