Robert J. Scanlon is a Lecturer at The Catholic University of America’s Busch School of Business, specializing in Strategy, Management, and Operations. His expertise spans Supply Chain Management, Metallurgical Engineering, Quality Engineering, and Lean Six Sigma. He holds a B.S. in Metallurgical Engineering from Missouri University of Science and Technology.
Over 46 years, he held operational, managerial, and corporate roles at Caterpillar, the U.S. Postal Service, and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), delivering over $500 million in cost savings. At TSA, he pioneered security performance metrics, earning the 2009 Individual Excellence Award. He became a Master Baldrige Examiner after 20 years of service on the Baldrige Program’s Board of Examiners, leading site visits to award-winning organizations.
He teaches courses including MGT 351 (Business Intelligence), MGT 312 (Supply Chain Management), and MGT 365 (Quantitative Methods for Decision Making). His professional certifications include the CSCP (Certified in Supply Chain Professional) from APICS (2023).
Awards include the 2009 Individual Excellence Award and recognition for Baldrige Program contributions. His career highlights align with operational excellence, cost optimization, and performance measurement systems.
