Paul C Vanderspek serves as a Clinical Professor of Supply Chain Management in the Department of Management at Colorado State University's College of Business. He teaches undergraduate courses including Introduction to Supply Chain Management, Advanced Supply Management, and Managing Global Supply Chains, along with graduate-level Service Operations & Supply Chain Management. He annually instructs in CSU's honors program and coordinates sections for the online Professional MBA program.
His research interests stem from extensive industry experience, focusing on strategic sourcing, supply risk mitigation, and global supplier relationships. As VP of SCM for a Denver-based make-to-order sign company serving hospitals and universities nationwide, his work bridges academic theory with real-world supply chain complexities in healthcare and construction sectors.
Vanderspek earned an MBA in Operations Management from Purdue University and an MA in Economics from the University of Iowa, complemented by CPIM and CSCP certifications from APICS. His industry leadership included directing CSU’s Supply Chain Management Forum until 2015, where he facilitated academic-industry collaboration.
Teaching excellence defines his academic career: he has received three consecutive nominations for the CSU Alumni Best Teacher Award. His professional consultancy spans strategic sourcing frameworks and supplier relationship optimization for electronics industry clients managing complex global networks.
Through his dual roles in academia and industry (as VP of SCM for a national sign supplier), Vanderspek cultivates practical learning environments where students engage with live supply chain challenges in healthcare infrastructure and university construction projects.
