Robert J. Rohrschneider is the Sir Robert Worcester Distinguished Professor of Political Science at the University of Kansas, affiliated with the Department of Slavic, German, and Eurasian Studies within the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences. His research focuses on German and European politics, comparative public opinion dynamics, and the interplay between political institutions, attitudes, and behaviors. He also explores democratization processes, electoral systems, and global environmental movements.
Education: PhD in Political Science from Florida State University (1989).
Teaching interests include German politics, European Union studies, political culture, elite representation, and the link between political institutions and societal attitudes. His recent work examines voter perceptions of party competence in Germany and the theoretical underpinnings of political representation in liberal democracies.
Publications highlight critical analyses of party systems, democratic performance evaluation, and electoral behavior. He is associated with the Max Kade Center for German-American Studies and the KU Center for Russian, East European & Eurasian Studies, contributing to interdisciplinary research initiatives.
